Another fallen star of Balochistan but will shine in his poems!
Ghulam Hossain Shohaaz, also known as "Ambar" one of Balochistan's most beloved poets, died on Friday, July 20, 2007 in Oman at the age of 50.
Born in 1957, Machchaat, Shai Zangi, Negor. He began writing poems when he was only a young boy and got the start by contributing to various Balochi literature sources and publishers.
He continued writing descriptive, delicate poems. Along with the other Baloch poets of his generation, he inspired and received inspiration from the pain of his people whom fighting for their basic rights.
When Shohaaz wrote his last poem for Balochistan, he may knew he was dying of cancer. Sadness at the death of the Poet Shohaaz will by no means amount to the expression of collective grief he recorded in his poems. But there is a real sense in which Shohaaz, like few poets before him – Sayad Zahoor Shah Hashemi, another Gul Khan Naseer, is one - will be mourned not only as a great poet and writer but also as a public figure. Most of his poems were sung by Balochistan’s well known music artist Aref Baloch.
His profession profile is one of his perfect example of being dedicated and organized which are the most important qualities that a poet should have. Here are few notes written by him regarding his profession profile, skills and experiences with oil company Shell:
Ghulam Hossain Shohaaz, Sales Manager Commercial Road Transport (CRT) for Shell in Oman and the UAE, said, "The Sales Managers' Academy in Dubai was excellent. It was very detailed and I was able to learn a lot. It has been described as 'part of an ongoing journey' which will continue over the next few months and, indeed, years.
"Of particular interest to me was the number of training tools to which we have been introduced. I thought the session on building rapport between sales staff and customers was very good.
"We were supplied with a 'Sales Tool Kit', consisting of CDs and instructions. We were also provided with an Assessment Guide for both ourselves and our staff.
"We learned about setting goals and how to achieve them. I also found the session on telephone sales techniques particularly useful as some of my staff are situated 1,100 kilometers away. I can't get to see them very often so telephone techniques are important for me.
"We have started learning to improve our own skills and I hope to be able to use these skills to improve the performance of my staff and to help assess their abilities and fill in the gaps. A good course."
He will be greatly missed and remembered. Rest in Peace...
